花石樓是八大關(guān)中最著(zhù)名也是最有代表性的一棟別墅，據說(shuō)是1932年由一位俄羅斯人在此修建，由于是用花崗巖和鵝卵石建成，故得名花石樓?；ㄊ瘶堑慕ㄖL(fēng)格是典型的歐洲古堡式，又融入了希臘式和羅馬式的風(fēng)格，也有哥特式的建筑特色。相傳解放前國民黨特務(wù)頭子戴笠曾在此住過(guò)，也有老百姓說(shuō)蔣介石也在此避過(guò)難等等，解放后，花石樓成為接待中外貴賓的館舍,現已對外開(kāi)放。

花石樓的旁邊是第二海水浴場(chǎng)，浴場(chǎng)由寧武關(guān)路入口處分為東西兩部分，東區更衣室前有一個(gè)涼棚，是中共中央政治局會(huì )議的舊址。1957年，毛澤東主席來(lái)青島主持召開(kāi)中央政治局會(huì )議，在第二海水浴場(chǎng)游泳時(shí)發(fā)現這個(gè)涼棚面向大海、環(huán)境清靜而且十分寬敞，于是提議大會(huì )在這里召開(kāi)，工作人員便把涼棚用竹簾圍起來(lái)，在這里召開(kāi)了中央政治局會(huì )議。

山海關(guān)路5號是日寇第二次占領(lǐng)青島期間，在這里建的一座日本式別墅。該建筑外墻用綠色的釉面磚裝飾，顯得格外別致，與花石樓一樣，解放后, 山海關(guān)路5號成為了中外賓客的下榻的賓館。1957年，時(shí)任中共中央總書(shū)記的鄧? ?平同志在青島參加中央政治局會(huì )議時(shí)就在此下榻。

沿山海關(guān)路再向西走不遠就到了山海關(guān)路9號，這里接待的賓客大都是外國的國家元首和政府領(lǐng)導人，因此有“青島釣魚(yú)臺”之稱(chēng)。山海關(guān)路9號是一幢美式建筑，解放前是美國第七艦隊司令柯克上將的官邸，室內的家具全部是美國制造，有的現在還在使用。

與青島釣魚(yú)臺一街之隔的是元帥樓，元帥樓也是一幢日式建筑，但與青島釣魚(yú)臺不同的卻是紅瓦黃墻的“青島風(fēng)格”，由于共和國的十大元帥中有五位曾在這里下榻過(guò)，故得名元帥樓。相傳文革時(shí)期江青也在這里住過(guò)。另外，公主樓、宋家花園、朱德別墅、義聚合別墅等等也是十分有特色的建筑。

八大關(guān)是來(lái)青島必看的景點(diǎn)之一，用時(shí)大約一上午或大半天，如果有興趣的話(huà)可以從您的“下榻處”出發(fā)時(shí)帶上午餐在八大關(guān)優(yōu)美的環(huán)境里野餐一下，不過(guò)要注意保持環(huán)境衛生。吃完中飯可步行去第一海水浴場(chǎng)洗個(gè)海澡（第二海水浴場(chǎng)平時(shí)不開(kāi)放），這樣不僅省去了到處找飯店浪費時(shí)間，而且不會(huì )景點(diǎn)的飯店宰。去八大關(guān)可以乘26、31等公交車(chē)到“武勝關(guān)路”下車(chē)。
